“ Had dinner here with friends and I must say we had an awesome experience. Our servers were extremely attentive to all our needs and the food was tasteful, presented well and extremely flavourful. My only advise to the owners is that the lighting in the restaurant does not lend itself to elevated Indian cuisine. It was way too bright and fluorescent. Didn’t lend itself to creating a favourable high end atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for its service, hospitality and food. ”

I was accompanied by my Inidian friends to Benares and I trusted their choices with the food (leave the work to the experts), and I’m glad that i did. We ordered Butter Chicken, Chicken Khorma, Chicken Hariyali as well as Lamb Biryani and Veggie Pulao as our main dishes to share, all became my favourite specially Chicken Khorma. Their food was not as spicy/hot as other Indian restaurants I had been too, so if you have a lower threshold for hot/spicy food and crave Indian cuisine go to Benares, you can eat everything with peace of mind and not burning inside ;) ”

“ Honestly, the best Indian restaurant I've ever been to. My friends and I drove up to Toronto from Montreal for an event. We found this place by chance as it was walking distance from our hotel. Everything was perfect! The decor is lovely, the atmosphere is relaxing (always great when you can hold a quiet conversation). The service was absolutely top notch! And the food! Just phenomenal! We had the chef's choice tasting menu (available for 2 or more people). We were 3, and with 2 bottles of wine, after tax and tip, this experience of a lifetime cost us under 120 per person. You get the quality and service of a gourmet, expensive restaurant for a pretty reasonable price. I absolutely loved it! I'm now looking for any excuse to come back to Toronto, so I can eat at Benares again. ”
“ For starters, we ordered take out as opposed to dine-in. Found the curries to be so incredibly tasty - ate a butter chicken, a paneer curry and a chana masala. The portions are not massive, but i didn't find them to be uncharacteristically small. Perhaps more gravy than proteins, but again, pretty typical amongst many of the indian restaurants i've eaten at. Regardless, found the gravy's to be thick, creamy and flavourful. layers of spice. Can't wait to come back. ”
